PASIGHAT, May 14: In a commendable display of prompt action and efficient investigation, Pasighat Police successfully cracked a theft case reported on May 6, and recovered stolen valuables within a short span of time.
The case was initiated following a written complaint lodged by Tajing Padung, who reported a burglary that took place at around 3:00 PM on May 5 last, at his government residential quarter in Officers’ Colony, High Region, Pasighat. The complainant stated that unknown miscreants had stolen valuable items including gold earrings, a gold ring, silver coins, and other jewelry.
Pasighat Police registered the case under PSGT PS Case No. 38/2025 U/S 305/329/332(C) BNS and assigned the investigation to SI Johny Tasung. Swift measures were undertaken: the crime scene was meticulously examined, witness statements were recorded, and alerts were issued to local jewelry shops.
Leveraging reliable intelligence and thorough investigation, the police traced the stolen items to Mirsam Village. The valuables were recovered from the possession of two individuals—Osi Taloh and Talom Taloh—who had acquired the items from the prime accused. The recovery was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, and the items were positively identified by the complainant’s wife.
Further interrogation of the duo led to the arrest of the main accused,  Kadum alias Kabang Pertin of Mirsam Village. Following due legal procedures, the accused was presented before the court of the Learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Pasighat, and was remanded to judicial custody. The stolen jewelry was subsequently handed back to the rightful owner on Zimma.
The successful operation was carried out by a dedicated police team comprising SI Johny Tasung (Investigating Officer), ASI (SG) T. Ering, Ct. K.W. Kharmo, and L/Ct. N. Sawin. The team operated under the supervision of the Officer-in-Charge, Pasighat Police Station, and the overall guidance of Shri Pankaj Lamba, IPS, Superintendent of Police, East Siang District.
