PASIGHAT, Aug 22: In a major crackdown on counterfeit goods, Pasighat Police seized 37 fake HP cartridges worth approximately `2.27 lakh during a raid at Hi-Tech Computer Shop in the town’s main market area.
The raid, conducted on the basis of a credible tip-off, was carried out by a police team led by Lady Inspector Ojum Riba from Pasighat Police Station, under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Lamba, IPS, and Officer-in-Charge, Atan Taki.
The shop, operated by Irshad Hussain, was allegedly engaged in the illegal sale of counterfeit cartridges. Police have registered a case at Pasighat Police Station under relevant sections. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation into the case is underway.
SP East Siang Pankaj Lamba, commended the police team for their swift and coordinated action. He also urged the public to remain alert while purchasing branded products and ensure authenticity to avoid falling victim to counterfeit trade.
“Buying counterfeit goods not only causes financial loss to consumers but also fuels illegal business practices,” he cautioned.
Police have appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activities related to counterfeit or illegal trade to the nearest police station.
