PASIGHAT, Jul 14: Incessant rain which lashed the state over the last few days has resulted in continued water-logging in various pockets of East Siang district.
Places like the office premises of D. Ering Wildlife Sanctuary, Police colony, areas around the central jail and lower Banskota near the Pane Korong river channel along the boundary wall of ALG have been severely affected. Entry of rain water inside several houses including those in the APP Line and DEWS divisional office premises couldn’t be checked. A total of eight office quarters of the division are facing water stagnation, making the movement of residents difficult.
Raising concern over the prolonged water stagnation, DFO D. Ering WL Sanctuary Tasang Taga said that lack of proper drainage system in and around the offices of the sanctuary, territorial division and CCF office premises is leading to a continued waterlogging throughout the monsoon.

Taga has appealed to Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong to make provisions for draining out the stagnant water by digging drainage channels toward the Post Office near All India Radio Pasighat under the Smart City Project. He also cautioned that continued water stagnation may lead to the making of a breeding ground for mosquitoes causing malaria, dengue and Japanese Encephalitis.
Echoing Taga, Deputy Range Officer Orin Perme added that his quarter and all the adjoining residential premises are still under water for the last several days.
