Yupia, Jun 24: The 2nd District Road Safety Committee Board (DRSCB) meeting of Papum Pare District was convened on Monday under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman Vishakha Yadav.
The meeting witnessed participation from key stakeholders and officials, who engaged in detailed deliberations on pressing road safety concerns in the district.
The Executive Engineer, Naharlagun Highway Division Er. Hage Tajang presented a detailed plan through a PowerPoint presentation on the road safety measures in the district. 
This was followed by a brain storming session.
The committee decided that urgent short- and medium-term remedial measures be undertaken on the Holongi-Itanagar-Banderdewa stretch of NH415 and the Papu-Yupia Package I of NH713A, in coordination with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH).
The District Medical Officer (DMO), Yupia, was directed to submit proposals for imparting First Aid skill training and addressing the issues related to the inadequacy of ambulances and trained drivers in the district.
It was also decided in the meeting that the Superintendent of Police (SP) Papum Pare, District Transport Officer (DTO), DMO, and DDSE shall collaborate with the NGO Avenue for Joy Foundation, Banderdewa and jointly organise Road Safety awareness programmes in schools, colleges, public spaces, and among commercial vehicle drivers.
In a bid to amplify public engagement and promote road safety, it was also decided that the SP Papum Pare will organise a Road Safety Bike Rally in the district.
The meeting was attended by EAC Dana Unna, DMO Dr. ReenaRonya, DDSE T.T.Tara, DTO ( Transport) Yumlam Ajum Lombi, representatives from PWD and Avenue for Joy Foundation NGO.
