ITANAGAR, Oct 29: The state government on Saturday put five officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) under suspension with immediate effect for their alleged involvement in the AE(Civil) question paper leak.
In an order, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Secretary D Verma also directed that disciplinary proceedings be initiated against them.
The suspension orders signed by the Secretary, APPSC were issued today to each of the five officials namely Nima Tondrang, joint secretary, (establishment); Bate Koyu, deputy secretary (Establishment); Joram Nagu, under secretary (Establishment); Debhasish Dey, private secretary and Swaroop Bhattacharjee, private assistant.
According to the suspension orders the Secretary, Administrative Reforms, vide letter no AR-09/2022/64 dated 29th October 2022 has conveyed the direction of the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh under the provisions of Article 371H of the Constitution of India for the suspension of the officials and appropriate disciplinary proceedings are contemplated against them.
The order further directed that during the period, the order is in force, the headquarters of the above officials shall be Itanagar and they shall not leave without obtaining prior permission.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  has taken over the investigation into the matter.
Earlier, the police arrested APPSC deputy secretary-cum-deputy controller of examination Taket Jerang along with nine others in connection with the paper leak. Jerang has been sent on retirement by the Commission.
APPSC Chairman Nipo Nabam on October 14 resigned from his post owning moral responsibility for the incident. The state cabinet on October 27 decided to remove all four members of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for free and fair investigation. Subsequently members-- Major General Ganesh Singh Bisht, VSM (Retd.) and Major General Jarken Gamlin, AVSM, SM,VSM (Retd.) submitted their resignation to the Governor.
