Itanagar, Nov 3: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted searches at around 16 different places in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing investigation in the AE(Civil) examination question paper leakage conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
The recruitment examination for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) was conducted by the state recruitment agency SW on August 26 and 27 last.
“The searches resulted into recovery of incriminating documents/articles including fake/counterfeit stamps of executive magistrate of Arunachal Pradesh, Executive Engineer, State Bank of India, hard discs, pen drive, etc,” a press release from the premier investigating agency said.
CBI had registered a case on October 26 at the request of Govt of Arunachal Pradesh and further notification from the Govt of India transferring the investigation of FIR No. 11/2022 dated September 27, 2022 of SIC (Vigilance) Police Station corresponding to Itanagar Police Station case No. 229 of dated September 10, 2022.
The said case was registered against a private person of a coaching institute based at Itanagar and unknown officials of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on complaint related to the allegations of leakage of question paper before written examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) conducted by APPSC on August 26 & 27, 2022.
The complainant (a candidate) had alleged that the accused (a teacher of the coaching institute), who was identified as Akhilesh Yadav, was in possession of questions for the said examination, disclosing leakage of paper by him in connivance with unknown officials of APPSC.
Investigation is continuing, the CBI said. It may be mentioned that so far, 10 persons, including APPSC Deputy Secretary cum Deputy Controller of Examinations Taket Jerang and teacher of Jeju Institute Akhilesh Yadav, have been arrested by the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) in connection with the paper leak case.
