Yupia, Dec 15: The Panchayati Raj Elections–2025 for Rural Papum Pare district was conducted peacefully and successfully on Monday, covering 16 Zilla Parishad segments and 390 Gram Panchayat (GP) segments.
All 16 Zilla Parishad segments were contested. Out of the 390 Gram Panchayat segments, 169 segments were contested, while 220 segments were declared uncontested. The Gram Panchayat segment of Hote has been declared vacant, as the sole nomination filed for the segment was rejected during scrutiny.
Polling Station No. 16, B.K. Mission School, Midpu under II -Doimukh Zilla Parishad Constituency , was designated as a Model Polling Station, showcasing best practices in election management and voter facilitation.
The elections also witnessed the commendable role of the “men in red” — the Goan Buras, who worked hand in hand with the police and security personnel to maintain law and order, contributing significantly to the smooth and peaceful conduct of the polls.
The entire polling process was closely and continuously monitored by the District Election Officer (Panchayati Raj), Vishakha Yadav, IAS, along with the General Observer, Mige Kamki, ensuring strict adherence to electoral guidelines.
The District Election Administration expressed appreciation to polling personnel, security forces, Goan Buras, and voters for their cooperation, which ensured the peaceful and successful conduct of the Panchayati Raj Elections.
