ITANAGAR, Aug 28:  The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) organized a mass candlelight march in Itanagar from Akashdeep to Tennis Court, commemorating late Gyamar Padang, who exposed the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leakage scam. The march took place on the anniversary of Padang's courageous act as whistleblower. The event aimed to emphasize the importance of meritocracy for all residents of Arunachal Pradesh and to ensure a better future for generations to come.
During the march, students, family members, public, aspirants  and participants raised slogans advocating for meritocracy and accountability in the APPSC case. The participants expressed their commitment to the cause and their determination to bring about change.
The PAJSC has accused Chief Minister Pema Khandu of being involved in the APPSC fiasco and criticized the government for allegedly spreading misleading information about fulfilling the 13-point charter of demands presented by the committee. The committee's vice chairman, Tadak Nalo, stated that the government's attempts to suppress PAJSC's activities indicated the Chief Minister's involvement in these actions.
Nalo asserted that the government's claims of meeting the demands were false and called upon the public to judge whether the demands were genuinely met. He expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation process conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), stating that the chargesheet filed by the CBI was insufficient to hold all those involved accountable.
The state government's formation of a one-man inquiry commission led by Justice PK Deka (Retd) was met with dissatisfaction by the PAJSC. Nalo urged the government to establish a three-member commission in accordance with the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952.
PAJSC Chairman Techi Puru challenged Chief Minister Pema Khandu to subject himself to investigation by the CBI and ED if he was confident in his innocence. Puru also questioned the Chief Minister's claim of fulfilling the 13-point demands on the APPSC issue.
Puru announced that PAJSC would be organizing civil disobedience movements across the state after the conclusion of the state assembly session scheduled to begin on September 4 next. These movements would serve as a form of protest against the handling of the APPSC fiasco.
