AALO, Mar 31: A tragic road incident in Aalo claimed the life of 33-year-old Kento Doke, who succumbed to injuries after being hit by a car near Sipu Bridge Trijunction on March 29. The accused, Lenjing Taggu (24) allegedly fled the scene but was apprehended the same night, according to police reports.
According to the report,the incident occurred between 11:00 PM and midnight when Doke was crossing the road to get into his vehicle. Witnesses stated that he had warned the driver about reckless driving, but instead of stopping, the accused allegedly reversed his car and hit Doke, leaving him unconscious.
Doke was rushed to Aalo Hospital, where he was diagnosed as being in a coma. He was later referred to a hospital in Dibrugarh for further treatment but passed away on the morning of March 30.
West Siang Superintendent of Police (SP) Kardak Riba confirmed that authorities were alerted within 30 minutes of the accident. "We have an eyewitness and CCTV footage. The preliminary inquiry has been completed, and the accused is in judicial custody," Riba stated.
