Yingkiong, Sep 7: A team of officials from the Jal Shakti Abhiyan were on a two day visit to Upper Siang District from September 5-6 and inspected the works executed under Water Resources Department, Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development department at Yingkiong.
The team included Vikram Singh, Director Ministry of Ayush along with Susanta Kumar Ratha Scientist CNO of Jal Shakti Abhiyan. Alongwith all stakeholders the team visited Koying area of Simong village and Sipok area at Gette village and interacted with the farmers, villagers and PRI members.
They also visited Jal Shakti Kendra in WRD Division,Yingkiong. A plantation programme was also conducted at Nyaying area of Yingkiong.
The team conducted a review and interaction session with officers, PRI members at DC conference hall in the presence of ADC-in-charge on Monday. During the discussion, the team advised all stakeholders to make water conservation a 'Jal Andolan' through asset creation and extensive communication also to conduct more awareness programme like drawing, essay competition among the school students so that the understanding of water conservation can be generated from a young age. Further it was emphasized to give more focus on afforestation by Forest department in collaboration with other departments.
