ITANAGAR, Sep 1:The capital police on Friday arrested Executive Engineer, Rural Works Department, Itanagar, Nyamar Rike in connection with a defamation case filed against him at Chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Court, Aalo, by complainant one Kenba Diyum on July 19 last. 

Rike was arrested from the office of Chief Engineer, RWD, Itanagar this morning and was produced before the CJM court, Yupia later in the evening. The official will be produced before the CJM court Aalo on September 4 for next hearing of the case. 

According to source, the accused failed to appear in court despite being served a notice. After failing to respond to summon notice twice, the court issued an arrest warrant vide case no PR/- 01/17 under section 499/500 against the EE and transferred the case to Itanagar police station. 

However, police did not disclose on what ground the defamation case was filed.
