PASIGHAT, Mar 22: As part of Poshan Pakhwada 2024, DD, ICDS East Siang, Women & Child Development Department today organized a District level Nutrition Fair competition participated by Pasighat, Mebo and Ruksin ICDS projects. A colourful variety of recipes were presented using locally available  nutritious food items like finger millets, fox millets, maize ,local rice, vegetables and fruits to create mass awareness on the importance of balanced nutrition to combat malnutrition in children, pregnant and lactating mothers and also sensitize the masses on wholesome balanced nutrition in today’s world where many health ailments are caused by wrong dietary habits and 
dependence on processed food.
DD, ICDS & Nodal Officer, Poshan Abhiyan, Machi Gao, on the occasion informed that the weeklong Poshan Pakhwada and Nutrition fair is organized with the aim to promote Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB), promote traditional and local dietary practices,  healthy pregnant mother and infant and young child feeding practice in every household and family. DD, ICDS also stressed the importance of nutria-gardens (Poshan vatikas) for providing fresh and organic nutritional fruits and vegetables year round adding that a model poshan garden is being set up in Napit.
DRCHO, Dr. N. Angu as Resource persons stressed on proper nutrition and balanced diet in combating obesity, anemia, stunted growth etc in children and various health modern day health issues. He also stressed on breastfeeding and routine vaccination adding that during Monthly Village Health and Nutrition Day, regular awareness should be conducted. (DIPRO)
