Khonsa, Oct 29: An active cadre of the NSCN-K surrendered before the Tirap Police and 44 Assam Rifles, Khonsa on October 28.
This surrender comes as a result of the relentless and sustained efforts of Tirap Police and 44 AR to bring misguided youths back into the mainstream of society and restore lasting peace in the region.
Identified as SS. Lieutenant Nyamphua Hakhun (42), of Dadam, Tirap district, the surrendered cadre disclosed that he was active with NSCN (IM) since 2025 and later joined NSCN-K (Niki Sumi). He admitted that the life of insurgency is extremely harsh and expressed deep remorse for his past activities along with a strong desire to reform and live a peaceful life as a responsible citizen.
