CHANGLANG, Mar 31: In a significant step towards peace and rehabilitation, a cadre of the NSCN(IM) surrendered before security forces in Changlang district on Monday last.
Identified as Jungron Chena (30), a resident of Manmao village, the individual laid down arms and ammunition before the Officer-in-Charge of Changlang Police Station in the presence of personnel from the Assam Rifles.
State Home Minister Mama Natung lauded the coordinated efforts of the Arunachal Pradesh Police and Assam Rifles, emphasizing that “through patient persuasion and sustained dialogue, an active NSCN(IM) cadre has been brought back from insurgency to peace.”
Highlighting the broader impact, the minister stated that each such surrender represents “a life reclaimed”—a decisive move away from conflict and a return to family, community, and normalcy. He further stressed that such developments reinforce the power of trust, dialogue, and the belief that positive change is always possible.
