ITANAGAR, May 16:National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in a notice to the Chief Secretary has asked for a report on the death of an infant due to medical negligence at Community Health Center Namsai. Commission has also asked the CS to be present in person for hearing before the commission on camp sitting to be held at Dorjee Khandu Memorial Convention Hall, Itanagar on May 25 next.

In its notice, NHRC stated that on receipt of complaint from General Secretary, Northeast Human Rights Organization- Arunachal Pradesh, Buteng Tayeng and the aggrieved family regarding the medical negligence that led to the death of an infant, it has taken cognizance of the case and is under consideration for further necessary action, stated the order.

Earlier, on April 29 last, NEHRO(Arunachal Unit)  had  written  a letter to the chief secretary and CM demanding magisterial enquiry headed by either the health commissioner or the health secretary, with members from the state NEHRO and ANAYA within 10 days as well as immediate  suspension of the medical superintendent, stated  General Secretary NEHRO(Arunachal Unit) in its press statement.
