ITANAGAR, May 24:In a first of its kind move by  a state based NGO, members of Green Arunachal Foundation, led by its Chairperson, Takam Tatung called on the President of India, Pranab Mukharjee on April 21last and submitted a representation highlighting the problems confronting Arunachal Pradesh.

Through the representation, GAF pleaded the President to intervene into and take necessary steps for early construction of the proposed Greenfield Airport in Arunachal, solve the issue of stapled visa with China, bring an amicable solution to the boundary problem with neighbouring Assam and establishment of Arunachal Pradesh Regiment.

“President of India responded positively to a representation put forth by the NGO. He has endorsed the representation put forth thereof and has forwarded letters to the office of the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh to look into the matters”, Takam Tatung.   

Further, GAF also condemned the incident of serving extortion note to former Minister Bida Taku by suspected ULFA cadres and urged the state government to take necessary steps to curb such instances in Arunachal Pradesh in future. The foundation further urges the authorities to provide security to him.
