ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The First Lady of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, Neelam Misra interacted with senior officials of Textile and Handicrafts department, entrepreneurs and self help groups at Raj Bhavan, Shillong on Friday.
Neelam urged the officials to motivate and assist the traditional weavers, especially the womenfolk in ensuring that the customary traditions continue to facilitate the progress and development of society,
Impressed by the initiatives of the Government officials in the promotion of local handloom items, she called upon everyone to take the local product to global markets. She said that that steps will guarantee socio-economic empowerment of women.
Documentaries on textiles of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh were screened on the occasion, which was appreciated by all.
