ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Papum Pare District Police, in collaboration with the Recovery Wellness Society (RWS), conducted an awareness program at the Arunachal Press Club to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to educate and engage the youth in the fight against drug abuse.
IGP Law & Order, Chukhu Apa who attended as the chief guest, emphasized the importance of staying away from drugs and other contraband substances. He highlighted the state police' proactive initiatives to combat drug menace in the region. Apa also commended the Papum Pare  Police for organizing such an important awareness program.
"If we want to curb this menace, we need equal support from society," he said adding that  collaborative effort between the police and organizations like RWS is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
During the event, a recovered addict Debia Tado shared his personal experiences on how drug abuse had impacted his life. He also shed light on the positive changes he experienced after his recovery, providing inspiration to those facing similar struggles.
Dignitaries present at the occasion included DIGP Western Range Kime Aya, SP Papumpare Dr. Neelam Nega, Project Head RWS Anupam Rohit, President RWS Sujata Singh, Joint Director W & CD - A. Lowangcha, Resource Person Dr. Panchali Neog and Vice President APC Bengia Ajum. Each of them delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing drug abuse.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of the Art competition from various schools organized to raise awareness about drug abuse.
