Yinkiong, Feb 24: 12th Bn National Disaster Response Force( NDRF) conducted one day mock exercise on earthquake preparedness at Yingkiong today in collaboration with Upper Siang district administration, District Disaster Management Authority, and others with an objective to create awareness for effective preparedness and response during the time of actual disaster scenario.
During the mock exercise, NDRF team demonstrated search and rescue technique, First aid, CPR process etc., followed by training session for personnel of Police and Fire Emergency Services at the venue.
In the debriefing session, ADC (Hq) Dochora Lama thanked the NDRF team for coming all the way from Itanagar to conduct such crucial mock exercise on earthquake preparedness and said that techniques demonstrated by the NDRF will help people during any eventualities. At the same time dispelling the rumours going around in social media regarding occurrence of earthquake on February 26 next, he requested the people not to panic and not to believe in such rumours.
Assistant Commissioner Himanshu Nigam, said Upper Siang District is geographically a hilly terrain which is prone to natural disasters and so whenever DA conducts such exercises, it is important on the part of public to participate and keep themselves well informed about the safety measures.
