ITANAGAR, Nov 27: Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung along with a team of officials today visited the under-construction site of the Dorjee Khandu Badminton Academy (DKBA) at Chimpu to review the progress of works.
While expressing satisfaction over the progress of construction, Natung gave a few directions to the executing agency and contractor. He also discussed the issues of encroachment, boundary wall, protection wall and approach road including the need for a Bailey bridge and directed the Secretary SYA to examine them at the earliest. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for donating the land, he recalled the contributions of the former Chief Minister late Dorjee Khandu and said the academy will be befitting tribute to him. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and a seating capacity of 1000 and 8 courts, the academy will be having the provision for separate boys and girls hostels inside its 20,700 meter square campus.
The Minister was accompanied by Secretary SYA Anirudh Singh, Director SYA, Principal SLSA, a team of engineers from the Urban Development and Technical wings of the Sports Department.
