Ektanagar, Sep 24: Forest Minister Mama Natung represented the state in the two day National Conference of Environment, Forest & Climate Change of all states & UTs at Statue of Unity, Ekta Nagar, Gujarat from September 23-24.
The 2 days conference had brain storming session on various thematic sessions like PARIVESH portal; single window system for integrated green clearances, combating climate change, Life styles for environment (LiFE), updating State Plan in Climate Change for mitigation of emissions & adaptation to climate impacts, plastic waste management, wildlife management including biodiversity & conservation of wetlands, prevention & control of pollution & agro-forestry were covered by various resource persons from Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), New Delhi.
Prime Minister while addressing the delegates in virtual mode emphasised on circular economy.
The inauguration session was marked by Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Bhai Patel in presence of Union Minister of Env, Forest & CC Bhupendra Yadav, Minister of State MoEFCC Ashwini Choubey, CEO Niti Aayog Parmeswaran Iyer, Secretary EF & CC Leena Nandan.
Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar stressed on holistic lifestyle approach for environment.
Various environmental related issues & suggestions were discussed in the conference. The issue of filling vacancies on priority, ways to strengthen coordination, collaboration & cooperation to ensure protection & preservation of ecosystem were also discussed with heads of MoEFCC institutions.
Natung while participating in the discussion highlighted the wildlife conservation efforts of the Arunachal Pradesh and said that with people’s participation, Arunachal Pradesh will contribute significantly in mitigation of climate change as the state has large area under forest cover.
Along with state ministers, concerned state secretaries as well as chairman of Pollution Control Boards along with PCCFs participated in the conference.
Jitendra Kumar PCCF, Tapek Riba CCF & OSD to Minister Dr Radhe Natung also attended the conference along with the minister.
