GUWAHATI, Aug 31: Arunachal Pradesh Water Resources Minister, Mama Natung attended the Global Maritime India Summit 2023 Roadshow at Guwahati today, organised by Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) as a prelude to 3rd edition of Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS 2023) to be held from October 17 to 19 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. 
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal informed the house that India is making progress in global maritime business by focusing on moderation of ports, port land industrialisation, coastal community development and enhancing the coastal and inland waterways under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also appealed to all the stakeholders to attend the 3rd edition of GMIS in New Delhi. 
Taking part in the deliberations of Ministers’ Session, Mama Natung reiterated the strong intention of the Arunachal Pradesh government in developing inland waterways upstream to the Lohit Basin (up to Alubari Bridge Point), Dibang Basin (up to Bomjir at Dibang Bridge Point) and Siang Basin (up to Rane Ghat at Pasighat) from Dibrugarh in Assam, which already has an established inland waterways. Emphasising the significance of a well-structured inland waterways network and its positive impact on trade, commerce, connectivity and defence, the Minister requested the support of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways in facilitating the development of a robust waterways in Arunachal Pradesh which will connect with Brahmaputra River in Assam.
The roadshow had three sessions-- Infrastructure, Ministers and Trade separately with various speakers
Among others, Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister Transport, Transport & Excise, Govt of Assam, 
Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries & Commerce & Public Enterprises, Govt of Assam, Temjenmenba, MLA & Advisor (Transport), Govt of Nagaland, Phurpa Tsering, Vice-Consul, Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, Guwahati, Ruhul Amin, Asst High Commissioner, Govt of Bangladesh, Mohd Monowar Uz Zaman, Jt Secy, Member (Planning & Operation), Bangladesh Inland Waterways Transport Authority (BIWTA), Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, Chairman IWAI, Sanjeev Ranjan, Chairman National Shipping Board (NSB) & TK Ramachandran, Secy, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways also spoke on the occasion. 
Natung was accompanied by DRC Guwahati Dilip Kr Chutia, ARC Pranjit Sharma and OSD Dr Radhe Natung during the conclave.
