Guwahati, May 2: The 12th High Powered Review Board of Brahmaputra Board was chaired by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat along with Union Minister of State Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Kailash Choudhury at Guwahati on Monday.
Taking part in the deliberations, Minister of Water Resources Mama Natung apprised the Board regarding the technical & financial constraints being faced by Arunachal Pradesh for implementation of projects under flood management & border area programme (FMBAP) and appealed the Jal Shakti Ministry for considering approval of priority schemes under FMBAP.
Shekhawat in his address asked the board to work in tandem with central water commission, expand the scope of work and fast track the studies & strategies for a robust roadmap.
The meeting was attended by minister in charge of water resources from various North East states with their Secretaries, Brahmaputra Board Chairman Rajiv Yadav, Central Water Commission Chairman Kushvinder Vohra, Jal Shakti Ministry Commissioner TS Mehra, Dr Hemant Kaushi from IIT Ghy among others.
E-office of the board and coffee table book on ‘Aamantran Brahmaputra’ was also launched in the meeting.
