Naharlagun, Dec 24: The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs celebrated the National Consumer Day-2022 at Department Headquarters, C-sector Naharlagun today. A designed department vehicle was flagged off from the office headquarters by the Controller, Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Hoktum Ori. A brief program was held in the office campus where Debia Tana. ACLM (ED) addressed the various aims and objectives of the department.
An awareness programme was also held at Government Higher Secondary school, Model Village, Naharlagun and Government Secondary School Nirjuli.
Assistant Controller Debia Tana gave a demonstration on likely fraudulent practices in use of weighing instruments in delivery of commodities. He asked the participants to be careful and alert at the time of transaction so that accurate quantity as payed for is delivered. Giving demonstration on food colouring, he also advised consumers to be careful while buying edible items from market to remain safe from sub-standard quality.
Tarh Sonu, Inspector Legal Metrology bried about consumer rights and the consumer disputes redressal mechanism. He explained in brief how and where to file consumer complaints.
