ZIRO, Mar 4:

A two-day national conference on Rural Livelihood, Environment, and Sustainable Development was held at Saint Claret College, Ziro on March 2 and 3. The conference was organised by the Department of Geography, SCCZ, and was part funded by Ama Aba MPCS Ltd. Ziro.

EAC, Lower Subansiri District, Mokar Riba inaugurated the conference and Arvind Kumar Das, Chancellor, IGTAMSU, Ziro, was the guest of honour during the inaugural ceremony on March 3.  The conference was decked with 16 paper presentations and 4 key-note addresses. There were over 80 participants for the conference. The resource persons for the conference were renowned academicians such as Prof. Nishamani Kar, Dean, School of Environmental Sciences, RGU; Prof. S.K Patnaik, HoD, Department of Geography, RGU; Dr. Vijay Kr. Sharma, Deputy Director, SIRD;  John Gangmei, Dept. of Social Work, RGU; and Dr. Jagannath Patgiri (Retd.)Former HoD, Department of Geography, Pragjyotish College, Guwahati. Dr. (Fr). Paulson Veliyannoor, CMF, Member, American Psychological Association, conducted a workshop on APA style of writing research. Hage Penji, the Chairman of Ama Aba MPCS Ltd, the academic partner for the Conference, graced the valedictory function and gave away the certificates to the paper presenters and resource persons.
