Itanagar, Aug 23: Former Ziro-Hapoli MLA Nani Ribia’s father Nani Pilya, the senior most Head Gaon Burah (HGB) of Bulla village in Lower Subansiri district and an active member of Apatani Shaman Association, passed away on Monday after a brief illness due to age related factors. He was 90 plus. He is survived by six sons, two daughters and more than 80 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adored by one and all for his upright, peaceful and sober nature, Nani Pilya was a man, who believed in success and sustenance through hard work, was an avid custodian and was wellversed in Apatani customary laws. A large number of mourners, including relatives and well-wishers, thronged his Nani village residence to pay their last respects to the departed soul. His last rites will be performed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed grief and shock over the demise of HGB Nani Pilya and paid his homage to the departed soul. “Shocked to learn about the demise of Nani Pilya ji, a bonafide member of Apatani Shaman Association & prominent Head Gaon Burah of Apatani community. He was a good orator & well versed in customary law. Condolences to the bereaved family. May Lord Buddha grant eternal peace to him,” Khandu said in a tweet. Agriculture Minister and local legislator Tage Taki offered his condolences to the bereaved family members and said in a message, “Uncle Nani Pilya had lived a full life overseeing and guiding his children and grandchildren who are doing well in different fields of life but his fatherly presence in the society will be missed.” Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime also condoled the passing of Nani Pilya.
