Namsai, May 8: The coordination meeting of project SMILE (Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprises) with all the stakeholders was held on 7th May under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Namsai C.R. Khampa.
While welcoming the house present, Oni Padun, EAC-cum- Nodal Officer highlighted the objective of the SMILE Project.  She also enlightened the issues faced by the Project Implementing Agency (NGO Dhama Foundation) during rescue operation and overall management of the project and appealed for all possible assistance to nodal department which include Police, Health, education, Economics & statistic and Women and Child Development of Namsai District.
A power point presentation on the activities and goals of the project SMILE in the District was presented by Chow Dinesh Chowlik, Project Manager of Dhama Aid Foundation.
While advising the Secretary of the Project Implementing Agency to prepare roadmap for rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of begging into the mainstream and to live a dignified life ahead, the Deputy Commissioner suggested the secretary of the “Dhama foundation” to coordinate with other appropriate rehabilitation centres according to their health status, age and provide skill training as per age, capability and eligibility. He also requested all concerned to work sincerely towards achieving the objective of the goal and to perceive that no individual engaged in begging in the district is left without being benefitted under the schemes.
During the meeting the house resolved to function under one umbrella and to respond to the documentations, health, rescue, education and rehabilitation of the persons engaged in begging.
The meeting was attended by SP, CDPO (Namsai), representative of DMO, DDSE and ADES, Project Manager SMILE, Secretary of Dhama Foundation along with other concerned officials and representatives of NGOs apart from the officers of District Administration, Namsai.
