NAHARLAGUN, Jan 30: In a major breakthrough, the Banderdewa Police arrested one Pradip Siva (29), who had been on the run since August 2023, for allegedly stealing a truck loaded with TMT bars worth approximately `16.35 lakh. The accused was apprehended in Bengaluru with assistance from the Hulimavu Police Station.
According to police sources, the case was registered after a written FIR was lodged by the complainant, reporting that on August 22, 2023, a truck carrying 27.720 MT of TMT bars was dispatched from M/S Satyam Steel & Alloys, Banderdewa, to Ledo, Tinsukia (Assam). However, the truck never reached its destination, and its driver, Pradip Siva, disappeared along with the vehicle and the goods.
Despite multiple raids across various locations in Assam, the accused remained untraceable. However, through meticulous human and technical intelligence, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Koj Tada and Head Constable Tade Bomdom successfully tracked him down in Bengaluru. With the support of the Hulimavu Police Station, the team apprehended the fugitive on January 28, 2025, and brought him back to Arunachal Pradesh on January 30, for further legal proceedings.
Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, IPS, lauded the efforts of the Banderdewa Police and their counterparts in Hulimavu for their seamless coordination, which led to the successful arrest of the accused.
