PASIGHAT, Jul 27: The much anticipated  3rd edition of  Independence Cup Football Tournament (IFCT)-2025  under the aegis of District Football Association (DFA) , East Siang began today here at the Outdoor Stadium Pasighat promising  exciting matches by young sporting talents.
State BJP President Kaling Moyong who kicked off the inaugural match alongwith Geku Mariyang MLA  Oni Panyang, SP Pankaj Lamba , Councillor Oyin Gao and host of dignitaries, in his address lauded the organisers  for providing a  platform for the rural youth  to showcase their talent. Speaking on the priority given by the State Government to sports and youth development, Moyong said “our state is one of the best performing states in the sporting arena in the North East and the nation.” He advised the participating players to grab the opportunity to showcase their footballing skills, while maintaining sportsman spirit.
Councillor, Oyin Gao, assured to award the most disciplined team from his side and also hoped that the inter-village grassroot competition will encourage more sporting enthusiasts.
SP East Siang, Pankaj Lamba in his message to the youth called for “fitness through games and sports and say no to drugs.”
MLA Oni Panyang, also stressed on discipline and fairplay as the true mark of a sportsman while lauding the effort to channelize youth energy through positive activities like games and sports.
President DFA Dr. Tamang Tamuk, Chairman IFCT, East Siang  Talik Siram earlier informed that forty teams will be vying for the trophy.
