ITANAGAR, Jul 25: In a freak accident, a motorcyclist was killed when construction debris fell upon him on the busy Zero Point area of the state capital.
The incident occured at around 5PM on Tuesday, when the wall of the second floor of an under-construction building located near Zero Point, close to KFC, collapsed and fell on a passing bike rider, identified as Mai Agu, 29, a resident of H Sector, Itanagar.
The accident resulted in severe injuries to Mai Agu, who was immediately rushed to Heema Hospital for medical attention. However, despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Four scooters and two motorcycles were also damaged in the wall collapse.
The body of the deceased is currently at the morgue of TRIHMS Naharlagun, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Authorities have advised the relatives of Mai Agu to file a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident, and the process is awaited.
During investigations, it was revealed that the woman who hired the labourers for the construction of the wall has been identified as Tamchi Kache. She was reportedly running a beauty parlor on the ground floor of the same building where the tragic accident occurred.
