Yingkiong, Jul 6: A month-long skill development training programme conducted by the Department of Textile and Handicrafts, Upper Siang District on cane, bamboo and bead making concluded at Yingkiong today.
Altogether 37 trainees  comprising  educated unemployed youths and school children enthusiastically participated in the training.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Vice-Principal VKV Yingkiong, Gyaneshwar Mishra appreciated the effort and said that it will go a long way in making a better future for the youth and society as a whole. 
Head Mistress Govt Secondary School, Parsing, Odi Kombo, who also spoke on the occasion called upon the students to utilize the knowledge gained through the training to develop their skills more efficiently and effectively in future and encouraged others undergo such training in future.
District Information and Public Relations Officer, Y Jerang while addressing participants said that ‘with dwindling  value of  traditional art and crafts, such training holds immense importance for the younger generation  as it will not only skilled them but will also to let them  know their traditional skills  and preserve its values’.
Earlier, Assistant Director Textile and Handicrafts, Onam Darang Pertin highlighted the aims and objective of the training programme and said that training program was conducted with objective to give exposure and skill up the youths of the district for a better future. She called upon all trainees to continue their learning skills and expressed her gratitude to various schools for their co-operation and support in successful completion of the training programme.
