ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended greetings to the people of the state and the Idu Mishmi community in particular on the auspicious occasion of Ke-Meh-Ha. 
In his message, the Governor said that since time immemorial, agriculture has been the main occupation of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, which  resultantly in linking all the festivals to agricultural activities and the people have been celebrating these  festivals in that manner. He said that the celebrations and rituals have become a vehicle for preservation and promotion of the traditions and cultural heritage.
Let us promote our rich history and customs and also be proud of our ethos, he said while urging the younger generation to take active part in the community celebrations which link all to their roots. 
On this festive day, I join my Idu Mishmi brethren in their prayer to Apeh Milih of Apesha, the Goddess of crops and Manu, the spirit of field and granary to invoke their blessings for each one of us, the Governor said in his message.
In a message this evening, Khandu hailed the Mishmi community of being one of the most vibrant and colorful communities of the state, who have succeeded in proudly preserving their distinct cultural identity.
“I join my sisters and brothers of the Mishmi community in celebrating the auspicious harvest festival of Ka-Meh-Ha. May this festival usher a bountiful harvest and bless our people with health, wealth and peace,” Khandu said.
The Chief Minister reiterated his advice on preserving and promoting indigenous culture and language for posterity. He emphasized that Arunachal’s identity lies in the culture of its indigenous communities.
“I congratulate the Mishmi community in taking the lead in preserving their age-old culture and recognizing the importance of their language and therefore teaching it in schools in their areas,” Khandu added.
