ITANAGAR, May 18:

Alleging misuse of funds sanctioned for construction of motorable road connecting Zirdo to Jime (rural link Road) by concern executing department, Advocate, Gojum Riba has appealed to the Chief Minister to initiate appropriate action against all involved in the corruption.

Highlighting the plight of the villagers of the area, Riba informed that both villages are situated in the eastern most part of Dari circle under Basar Sub-division, West Siang district having a total population of 140, mostly dependent on essential commodities procured from nearby markets.

“Due to absence of a motorable road, villagers have to walk 14 to 15 km on foot to purchase medicines even for minor ailments like headache and viral fever. The medical staff like DHV, health assistant never visits the village due to tough terrain and non availability of road,” informed Riba adding that in certain emergency cases, the villagers used to lift the patients in local made bamboo stretcher along the narrow path.

Also highlighting the potential of the area in Agri & horti sector, Riba informed that villagers are traditional growers of various products including lemon, cardamom, ginger, but due to lack of road communication, they are unable to sell their products. He further requested the CM to address the grievances immediately in the interest of villagers
