Boh Ramo Bokar Welfare Society stage protest outside Court premises

YUPIA, Jul 27: The bail cancellation hearing in the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Bench, against accused Yumken Bagra, who is involved in a sexual assault case of over 21 minors, has been extended to July 31.
Speaking to the media, Tanyong Samnam, the Chairperson of the issue, informed that the hearing was conducted online, and the advocate representing accused Yumken Bagra requested additional time to submit necessary documents to continue his ongoing bail. In response to the plea, the court has scheduled July 31 as the next day of hearing.
Meanwhile, members of the Boh Ramo Bokar Welfare Society (BRBWS) staged a dharna outside the court premises, displaying banners and placards to demand justice for all the minor victims.
Aju Chije, who lodged a complaint against the incident in November 2022, expressed his concern about the trauma suffered by the minors due to the heinous incident. He highlighted that the accused is still out on bail, despite the seriousness of the allegations. He also alleged that due to the negligence of the district police and investigation agency, the accused is still roaming outside. He further commended the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Bench, for taking the case Sou moto.
Chije also raised questions about the school authority and the department regarding the outcomes of the departmental inquiry conducted against the accused.
Earlier, the accused Yumken Bagra was given bail by the Special POCSO court under Charges 376(3)/376 (AB)/323/506/511/212 IPC R/W sections 6/10/12/18 POCSO Act. However, the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Bench, intervened by taking the case under Sou-moto cognizance and filing an application to cancel the bail.
