TUTING, Jan 7: A shocking incident of sexual molestation involving a minor student has emerged from Siang Valley Residential School in Tuting, Upper Siang District. A 25-year-old mathematics teacher from Assam is accused of repeatedly assaulting an eighth-grade student.
The victim's parent filed a First Information Report (FIR) on January 5, 2025, after the girl disclosed the incidents to her mother. This revelation prompted urgent action, leading to a police complaint being lodged at the Tuting police station.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Upper Siang assured the community that a thorough investigation would be conducted, emphasizing the commitment to ensure justice. He urged the public to remain calm as authorities work through the inquiry process.
Reports suggest that the school administration attempted to suppress the incident by offering financial compensation, which a family member of the victim vehemently rejected, stating, "How can we sell the life of our daughter?" Parents further disclosed that the school authority threatened their ward not to reveal the incident. We demand severe punishment for the accused so that no such incident is repeated with any daughter, added the parents.
Additionally, Advocate Kani Nada Maling, General Secretary President of the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, confirmed that their members are actively monitoring the situation and are in contact with both the family and local authorities.
On January 6, a large crowd gathered outside the Tuting police station, demanding stringent action against the accused and seeking justice for the victim.
