Yingkiong, May 20: D. Shankar, Director, WCD, Ministry of Women and Child Development, visited various Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) under the Vibrant Villages initiative of the Jengging Project. During his visit to Upper Siang district, he also inspected the newly constructed One Stop Centre (OSC) building at Yingkiong, the Women Help Desk at the local Police Station, and the Pahung Jino Rural Mart, Yingkiong.
He interacted with members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and the staff of the WCD department in Upper Siang, appreciating their work and discussing initiatives to further strengthen women and child welfare in the region.
The Director was scheduled to visit the Vibrant Villages of Tuting and Siang. However, due to inclement weather and continuous road blockades, the visit to those areas had to be cancelled.
D. Shankar, who was on a three-day visit to Upper Siang, also interacted with Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang and heads of various departments before concluding his tour. He reviewed the status of the Vibrant Villages Programme in the district and discussed ongoing initiatives and challenges with the officials. (DIPRO)
