RONO HILLS, Sep 10: Mishmi Language Development Committee(MLDC) organised a talk on Mishmi Writing System Kman(Miju) and Tawrã (Digaru) at Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies, Rajiv Gandhi University on Saturday.
While taking part in the discussion, Minister for Art and Culture, Research, Dr. Mohesh Chai expressed his serious concerns citing the UNESCO findings of numerous languages of the state being listed under endangered category. Informing that his department is working out modalities to overcome the challenges, the Minister expressed his desire to collaborate between the State's Research Department and Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies, RGU to work in this regard.
Besides a host of young Mishmi scholars from RGU and faculty members AITS, Dr. Tarun Mene, Ms. Lisa Lomdak and Dr. Wanglit Monchang, community elders like Dr. Sopai Towsik, Chairman Mishmi Welfare Society (MWS), ,Adv. J. Chai, Session Judge Yupia, attended the programme.
