ITANAGAR, Mar 4: Minister for Urban Affairs, Land Management & Civil Aviation, Balo Raja today presided over the departmental consultative committee meeting of the Urban Affairs.
During the meeting, the members discussed each major issue of all the wings and departments under Urban Affairs and adopted for submission to the government for consideration in the larger interest of the state.
Raja in his words of advice to the department stated that Government of India in June, 1969 had constituted Consultative Committees for Parliament and formulated its guidelines. The aim and purpose of these committees is to familiarize the elected members with the process of administration in the Government Departments. Such Consultative Committees provide an additional forum for informal discussion between Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies and the Ministries as the case may be, who are assisted by senior officials in the respective departments regarding policies, programs and problems of various departments of the government. Keeping in view the utility of these Committees, the ‘8th All India Whips Conference’ held at Bhopal in November, 1972 recommended that similar consultative committees should be set up in all States/UTs. Accordingly, Arunachal Pradesh also constituted various Consultative Committees for each department, which shall be presided over by the Minister incharge of the department concerned with MLAs as its members.
It is advocated for holding the consultative committee meetings either during a session or during inter-session period and submit its reports and recommendations to the government for adoption and consideration. Where there is unanimity of view in the committee, the government will accept the view subject to certain exceptions on specific areas.
Members Techi Kasso, Tapi Darang, Hamjong Tangha Members of Assembly, besides Nyali Ete, Secretary(UA), Tamune Miso, Joint Secretary(UA), Taring Darang, CE(UD), Likha Suraj, Director(Town Planning), Geyi Basar, Director(Housing), EE(ULBN) among others were present.
