NAMSAI, Dec 19:  Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the final round of XVII Tadar Tang State Football Championship 2018 here at APIL field on Wednesday amidst a mammoth gathering.  
Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tapasya Raghav, SP  Ankit Singh and all HoDs accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister. Mein applauded the Department of Sports for organizing such a big event which will motivate the youth of the Eastern Zone to participate in games & sports. He said a considerable area of eastern Arunachal Pradesh is affected with addiction to drugs and opium and it is a matter of great concern.
He lauded former MLA Tadar Tang and his family and said they have made enormous contribution towards the state and especially in the field of games & sports.
MLA Namchoom in his speech said Namsai being a new district is wanting in proper infrastructure to organize any big event, but the generous support of the local people will make the event a grand success. He further said in future too the people of Namsai will leave no stone unturned to promote games & sports.
Football teams from Namsai, East Kameng, Dibang Valley, Kurung  Kumey, Changlang, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, Lower Siang, Capital Complex and Arunachal Pradesh Police are taking part in the tournament.
The event was organized by the District Football Association, Namsai  under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association. Director Sports Tadar Appa, competition Director John Neelam and Match Commissioner Koj Tatung were also present in the programme.    In the inaugural match of the round Host Namsai defeated Kurung Kumey 3-2 in a very exciting encounter. Second match of the day was played between APP and Lower Siang in which former registered a comfortable 4-0 win.
