ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein unveiled the statue of Saint John Melchior Bosco, popularly known as ‘Don Bosco’ and inaugurated the new building of Senior Secondary of Don Bosco School at Jollang today in presence of Home Minister, Bamang Felix, Minister of education, Taba Tedir, Former Chief Minister, Nabam Tuki, MLAs Techi Kaso & Tana Hali Tara and former Minister & MP(Lok Sabha), Takam Sanjoy.  
He also dedicated the auditorium hall; infrastructures were dedicated to mark the centenary celebration of the arrival of the Salesians of Don Bosco to North East India.
While extending his heartfelt congratulations to the Don Bosco family on completion of 100 glorious years in Northeast India, he said, “we recognize the contribution of Don Bosco Society in imparting quality education with moral values and providing health care to the people of the State in remote and far flung areas since pre-independence days”. He also expressed his gratitude to the Salesians of Don Bosco for dedicating their entire life and rendering yeoman service to the people of the region with a missionary zeal in those difficult days.  
Further acknowledging the contribution of Salesian Congregation, he further said that it is because of their selfless service amongst others like Ramakrishna Mission and Vivekanda Kendra Vidhyalaya, today we have produced talented professionals in diverse fields and created a huge pool of manpower in the State.
He further said that the State Government will look into whatever support it can provide to the Don Bosco Society in return for their service and for the protection of the School area from further eroding.
It was informed that a journey of 11 valiant Salesians of Don Bosco family from Italy, France, Spain and San Marino who came as Missionaries to Northeast India on January 12, 1922 led to the establishment of several institutions into the remotest parts of North East Region and spread the light of education, especially among the poor & tribal people of the region.
