Itanagar, Nov 14: A multi state level mega mock exercise on earthquake scenarios will be held at designated locations of the capital Itanagar on November 17 next, wherein a hypothetical earthquake scenario would be created. 
The exercise is being carried out by the District Administration Capital Itanagar to check on the preparedness level of the district in tackling disaster and to basically build up the capacity of the district for disaster management as our state lies in the Seismic Zone V.
A meeting was  convened under the chairmanship of ADC Capital Itanagar Jiken Bomjen in this connection today.    
In the mock exercise, the Incident Response Team will be led by Incident Commandent Jiken Bomjen, who informed that the Incident response system has already been notified in the State in the year 2014 and it is time to implement the  IRS so that every stakeholder is well aware of their roles and responsibilities in tackling disasters.
Bomjen said that the participation of all stakeholders is extremely important and asked all to cooperate and work in unison so that the exercise becomes a great success in generating awareness amongst the people. 
Swami Kripakarananda, Secretary RKMH said that the entire process is a simulated one but the roles and responsibilities assigned would help us check our preparedness to mitigate the effect during disasters. He also advised all to maintain calm and not to lose confidence so that people do not panic during such times.
Earlier, DDMO Moromi Dodum Sonam briefed in detail about the Incident Response System and the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder. 
The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Disaster Management Authority Capital Itanagar Talo Potom has also appealed the denizens to cooperate with the DDMA and bear with the inconveniences caused for brief period and help in making the exercise successful.
EAC cum Asstt Commissioner Itanagar Municipal Corporation Datum Gadi also informed that the mock exercise would be conducted simultaneously in all the above mentioned locations and has sought the cooperation of the Officers and public alike in making the exercise successful.
