ITANAGAR, Apr 30: On the occasion of 24th Itanagar Rongali Bihu Sanmilan -2023 ,Mayor Tamme Phassang attended the Bihu programme organized by the Assamese community residing here in the capital region on Sunday.
The Mayor attended the Bihu event as the Chief Guest, which was held at Dorjee Khandu State Convention Hall, and attended by a large number of people from the Assamese community as well as other communities from Arunachal Pradesh. The event began with a traditional welcome ceremony, where the Mayor was greeted with a 'gamusa,' which is a traditional Assamese scarf.
Addressed the gathering, Mayor extended Bihu greetings and emphasized the importance of cultural diversity and the need to preserve and promote traditional cultures. The Mayor praised the Assamese community for their efforts in organizing such a significant cultural event and for their contributions to the state’s cultural landscape.
The event also included various cultural performances, including traditional dances like the Bihu dance, which is performed during the festival. The Mayor participated in the festivities, joining in the dance performances and interacting with members of the Assamese community.
