NAHARLAGUN, Mar 20: Capital mayor Tame Phassang accompanied by the corporators of various wards and officials of the IMC today inspected a number of schools, bridges, parks and other sites located in wards 14, 15 and 16.
The team which also included IMC Commissioner C Chukhu visited Polo Park, Hanging Bridge at Pachin, Government Secondary Schools at Polo Colony, Pachin and D-Sector and the State Training Centre of Bharat Scouts & Guides and interacted with the officials and staff. Hearing the grievances of the schools, the mayor said that the sole motive behind the visit was to know the ground reality of the infrastructure condition. Duty of the IMC is not just to concentrate on clearing garbage but also to look after aspects like education, health, water and other basic amenities, Phassang reiterated, while assuring to extend all-possible help toward development of the education sector and other basic requirements of the schools. Later, the team also visited the rubber and organic lemon gardens of local entrepreneur Likha Maj to encourage organic farming in line with the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Earlier on the day, corporators of wards 16, 14 and 20 namely Tarh Achak, Gyamar Tuvin and Arun Kipa Loram took their first doses of COVID-19 vaccine along with other staff of the IMC.
