NIRJULI, Feb 5: A mass social service led by  Corporator Ward No.19 Tarh Nachung was organised today at Nirjuli.
Participating in the drive, Mayor IMC Tame Phassang said depending only on the Itanagar Municipal Corporation for  cleaning up the state capital would not help. Denizens also have to take the responsibility for solving the garbage problem, he said.
IMC Corporator Nachung while talking to media persons said that the IMC had decided to impose a penalty of Rs 10000 for those caught throwing garbage in public area. He appealed to the traders and local residents to properly pack and place their garbage in IMC trucks.
IMC Commissioner Likha Teji also participated in the drive.
The social service was organised by Nirjuli Market Welfare Committee and Government Secondary School in collaboration with IMC Ward-19.
