TAWANG, Mar 21: A mass plantation drive was conducted at Lumla headquarters from Helipad to Dolma Lhagang in view of the visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Lumla and Tawang on April 4 next.
This will be the second visit of the living Buddha to Lumla constituency, who first visited it in 1959, while passing through it when escaping to India from Tibet via Khinzemani in Zemithang in 1959.
Around 1000 saplings were planted as the drive saw robust and enthusiastic participation by public leaders, HoDs, staff and general public.
The drive was convened under the guidance and direction of Lumla MLA and parliamentary Secretary, RWD, Jambey Tashi and was spearheaded by Lumla ADC RD Thungon and CO Tashi Dondup.
