ITANAGAR, Nov 2: A hostel warden in a remote government school in Shi Yomi district has been allegedly molesting minor students over a period spanning five years.The incident reportedly took place at the Government residential school, Karo Village, in Pidi Circle.
The Team APWWS, Mechukha, Shi Yomi District Unit visited the school on October 30, and met the parents of the victims, GBs, SMC and Teacher Incharge of the school and Women's Welfare group of Karo. After accumulating the ground report and thorough discussion and counseling with victims and parents, a shocking, horrible, a dreadful and shameful fact has been revealed, the APWWS said in a statement.
As per the statement given in the FIR by the victim's parents and women of Karo village, the hostel warden one Yumken Bagra initiated mass molestation of minor boys and girls at the hostel. The incident came to light, when two of the victims who happen to be twin sisters complained to their parents.
During counseling it was also revealed that molestation and physical assaults of students was happening since 4-5 years at the same school, the women's body said.
We the APWWS, Mechukha, Shi Yomi District Unit condemn such act and appeal Shi -Yomians in particular and all the NGOs, Students organization in general to cooperate and fight against such heinous crime. Further, we demand the law enforcing agencies to take immediate action as per child and women protection and safety law and terminate the culprit from job and punish him as per POCSO Act, the statement reads.
