NAMSAI, Jul 22: In a coordinated effort to ensure compliance with statutory regulations, a surprise joint market inspection was carried out today in Namsai township by a multi-departmental team. The inspection team comprised officers and officials from the Department of Trade and Commerce, Legal Metrology, Health and Family Welfare, Tax & Excise, Veterinary, Urban Development, Food & Civil Supplies, and the Police department, led by Town Magistrate Kalen Saroh.
During the extensive inspection, penalties were imposed on 15 business establishments operating without valid trade licenses, in violation of the notification dated 29th July 2009. Additionally, two cases were booked under Section 24 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, for using unverified weights in commercial transactions, informed Town Magistrate Kalen Saroh.
The team also identified four shop owners operating without mandatory FSSAI licenses, prompting immediate action. Inner Line Permits (ILPs) of workers were verified; two have been booked for Violation, and shop owners were advised to maintain cleanliness in and around their premises.
Saroh, also confirmed that such inspections will continue periodically to enforce compliance with relevant laws and protect consumer rights.
