ITANAGAR, Jul 21: Reacting to the Manipur incident,  Arunachal Pradesh Women's Welfare Society (APWWS),  has expressed deep concern and sadness over the shocking incident while submitting a letter to the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW) demanding exemplary action against the culprits. 
In a letter addressed to the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, the APWWS condemned the appalling crime and criticized the Manipur government for its failure to take swift action. This lack of immediate response has raised serious doubts about the safety and security of women in the region, it said.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the entire region, leaving the people in disbelief and anguish. The APWWS firmly stands against any form of violence and abuse directed towards women and calls for the authorities to take immediate and decisive action against the perpetrators. The incident involved the heinous act of two tribal women from the Kuki-zo community being subjected to a naked parade and gang rape.
The organization urged the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of its citizens, implementing measures that will prevent such heinous atrocities from recurring in the future. The demand for justice for the victims is paramount to restoring faith in the safety and protection of women and vulnerable communities in the region.
Expressing heartfelt support and solidarity with the people of Manipur during this distressing period, the APWWS emphasized the need to build a society where women are respected, protected, and treated with dignity and equality.
