SEPPA, Dec 8: Seppa police arrested wanted accused Pemasang Chijang (42) in connection with the murder of a Gaon Burah and stealing one SSBL gun with ammunition on December 7 last.
In a major breakthrough, Seppa Police arrested one Pemasang Chijang involved in murder and gun theft case. He was at large after committing the crime on October 19 last at Chijang village, Bana. He had also stolen one SBBL gun with ammunition from a house and murdered the head GB of the village and escaped from the village. The incident was reported to the police station on the intervening night of October 19 and 20 this year. The FIR was registered at Seppa PS vide Case No.54/2022 u.s. 380,302 IPC r.w. Sec.27 Arms Act dated 20.10.2022.
Subsequently, a lookout notice was issued against him on October 21 last and he was once spotted in Bhalukpong area but narrowly escaped. Thereafter, East Kameng Police pronounced Rs.25000/- reward for any information leading to arrest of accused Pemasang Chijang.
On December 7 last, information was developed regarding the probable hideout of the accused in the jungle area of Bana circle. Seppa Police immediately swung into action and two teams formed to effect the arrest. The teams were led by Inspr. Sochi Don, Inspr. N Nishant, SI Ananto Boruah, CT M Doka, CT S Taniang, CT A Haque, CT D Sangdo, CT T Chama and CT H Biki under the supervision of DySP Seppa Martin Ratan.
The team conducted the operation in the dark in the jungle area of Afakso village of Bana. Two rounds of ammunition were also fired in the air when accused Pemasang Chijang was trying to escape from the spot in the darkness. The operation was carried out swiftly in the night hours without any casualty and the accused was apprehended.
The motive of the crime was personal enmity and a series of many small brawls between the accused and the deceased leading to murder.
Further investigation is going on to recover the weapon of offense. SP East Kameng extended gratitude to the local residents of Bana and the victim’s family who helped in catching the accused.
