Naharlagun, Dec 11: In a  tragic incident a man was found dead in a pit near the under-construction flyover on National Highway 415 in Naharlagun on Wednesday. The incident occurred near the ABC tri-junction, and the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Jangbir Biswakarma, a resident of Boginadi, Lakhimpur, Assam.
The body was retrieved and sent to TRIHMS Naharlagun for post-mortem examination. Naharlagun Police have registered a case (UD Case No. 12/24) under Section 194 BNSS and launched an investigation, as confirmed by the Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun.
Local residents have expressed outrage, attributing the death to negligence in managing the construction site. They alleged that open pits for under-construction flyover pillars have been left unprotected, with no cautionary notices or barriers in place for pedestrians.
“There is no proper walkway or even parking space due to the ongoing flyover construction. Residents are forced to walk dangerously close to these large pits, risking their lives. Now, who will take responsibility for this loss of life?” questioned a local resident.
